THE CHANEL 2023/24 MÉTIERS D’ART SHOW

The CHANEL 2023/24 Métiers d'art event took place on a famous street in Manchester.
The wraparound skirts, miniskirts with godets, Bermuda shorts and playful touches appearing in the collection are a nod to British music culture.  The pieces showcase the CHANEL artistry of tailoring and
tweed with a hint of the 1960s. We’ve gather our favorite looks from the collection:
Virginie Viard revealed her own backstory of choosing to support the edgy multi-layered working-class culture of the English town. It included everything from its prowess in football to the Manchester music and clubbing scene, as it was popularized in the ’80s and ’90s, to its historical status as the original powerhouse of textile mill manufacturing in the 19th century.
Coco Chanel allegedly fell for English-made tweeds when she was involved with the Duke of Westminster.
Karl Lagerfeld instituted the Métiers d’Art shows to display the craftsmanship of the specialist couture supply—houses that Chanel owns.
Viard played around with souvenir slogan-sweaters, beanies and scarves inspired partially by football terraces and club flyer graphics.
It was all very Chanel and Parisian, of course.
